II. About Māra (2nd) — SN23.13: Impermanence

1At Sāvatthī.

Seated to one side, Venerable Rādha said to the Buddha:

“Sir, they speak of this thing called ‘impermanence’. What is impermanence?”

“Rādha, form, feeling, perception, choices, and consciousness are impermanent.

Seeing this … They understand: ‘… there is no return to any state of existence.’”

1Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

Ekamantaṁ nisinno kho āyasmā rādho bhagavantaṁ etadavoca:

"‘aniccaṁ, aniccan’ti, bhante, vuccati. Katamaṁ nu kho, bhante, aniccan"ti?

"Rūpaṁ kho, rādha, aniccaṁ, vedanā aniccā, saññā aniccā, saṅkhārā aniccā, viññāṇaṁ aniccaṁ.

Evaṁ passaṁ … pe … nāparaṁ itthattāyāti pajānātī"ti.
