X. The Sixes — SN35.102: It’s Not Yours (2nd)

1“Mendicants, give up what’s not yours. Giving it up will be for your welfare and happiness. And what isn’t yours?

The eye isn’t yours: give it up. Giving it up will be for your welfare and happiness. Sights … Eye consciousness … Eye contact … The pleasant, painful, or neutral feeling that arises conditioned by mind contact isn’t yours: give it up. Giving it up will be for your welfare and happiness.

Give up what’s not yours. Giving it up will be for your welfare and happiness.”

1"Yaṁ, bhikkhave, na tumhākaṁ taṁ pajahatha. Taṁ vo pahīnaṁ hitāya sukhāya bhavissati. Kiñca, bhikkhave, na tumhākaṁ?

Cakkhu, bhikkhave, na tumhākaṁ. Taṁ pajahatha. Taṁ vo pahīnaṁ hitāya sukhāya bhavissati. Rūpā na tumhākaṁ. Te pajahatha. Te vo pahīnā hitāya sukhāya bhavissanti. Cakkhuviññāṇaṁ na tumhākaṁ. Taṁ pajahatha. Taṁ vo pahīnaṁ hitāya sukhāya bhavissati. Cakkhusamphasso na tumhākaṁ. Taṁ pajahatha. So vo pahīno hitāya sukhāya bhavissati … pe … yampidaṁ manosamphassapaccayā uppajjati vedayitaṁ sukhaṁ vā dukkhaṁ vā adukkhamasukhaṁ vā tampi na tumhākaṁ. Taṁ pajahatha. Taṁ vo pahīnaṁ hitāya sukhāya bhavissati.

Yampi, bhikkhave, na tumhākaṁ, taṁ pajahatha. Taṁ vo pahīnaṁ hitāya sukhāya bhavissatī"ti.
