XXIV. Deeds — AN 4.240: Pleasing

1“Mendicants, someone with four qualities is cast down to hell. What four? Hurtful deeds by way of body, speech, and mind, and hurtful view. Someone with these four qualities is cast down to hell.

2Someone with four qualities is raised up to heaven. What four? Pleasing deeds by way of body, speech, and mind, and pleasing view. Someone with these four qualities is raised up to heaven.”

1"Catūhi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ niraye. Katamehi catūhi? Sabyābajjhena kāyakammena, sabyābajjhena vacīkammena, sabyābajjhena manokammena, sabyābajjhāya diṭṭhiyā – imehi kho, bhikkhave, catūhi dhammehi samannāgato yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ niraye.

2Catūhi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ sagge. Katamehi catūhi? Abyābajjhena kāyakammena, abyābajjhena vacīkammena, abyābajjhena manokammena, abyābajjhāya diṭṭhiyā – imehi kho, bhikkhave, catūhi dhammehi samannāgato yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ sagge"ti.
